Uganda is positioning its tourism and hospitality sector to attract increased investment as the country prepares to host the Future Hospitality Summit (FHS) Africa in February 2027.

The two-day summit, scheduled for February 2–3, 2027, at the Speke Resort Convention Centre in Kampala, was officially launched on September 23, 2026, during a reception hosted by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and Kampala Serena Hotel.

The event is expected to bring together hospitality investors, hotel operators, tourism leaders, government representatives and private-sector stakeholders to explore investment opportunities and partnerships within Uganda’s tourism and hospitality industry.

Roy Bannister, Head of Strategic Partnerships at FHS Africa, said hosting the summit in Uganda would provide an opportunity to connect investors with opportunities in the country’s hospitality sector.

“FHS Africa’s coming to Uganda reflects something much bigger than a conference,” Bannister said, noting that the platform would bring together investors, developers and industry players whose engagements could lead to new investments and businesses.

Uganda Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Juliana Kagwa said the summit would provide a platform for investors, developers, operators and hospitality professionals to exchange knowledge, build relationships and identify business opportunities.

“Hospitality is about bringing people, ideas and opportunities together. FHS Africa creates a platform where investors, developers, operators and hospitality professionals can meet, exchange knowledge, build relationships and discover opportunities,” Kagwa said.

Kagwa pointed to Uganda’s location on the equator, its diverse landscapes and tourism assets as some of the country’s advantages in developing the tourism and hospitality sector.

The launch was also attended by Hon. Okot Boniface Henry, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Trade and Tourism and Member of Parliament for Kole South, who emphasised the importance of collaboration in unlocking Uganda’s tourism potential.

Representatives from hotel owners, tour operators and tourism and hospitality associations also attended the launch, highlighting the need for cooperation across the sector.

Air connectivity was another issue highlighted during the event, with the expansion of Uganda Airlines’ network to Accra and Kigali cited as strengthening Uganda’s links to regional and international markets.

According to UTB, Uganda’s investment opportunities extend beyond hotels and accommodation to the wider tourism value chain. These include aviation, tour operations, food and beverage, destination management, professional services, financial institutions and local enterprises.

The February summit is expected to give Uganda an opportunity to showcase its tourism and hospitality investment proposition directly to international investors and industry professionals, while providing local businesses with opportunities to engage potential international partners.

The launch has also opened discussions around investment, partnerships, new hospitality developments, skills and business opportunities within Uganda’s tourism sector.

As the host partner, UTB is expected to use the summit to highlight Uganda’s tourism assets and investment opportunities while strengthening links between local businesses and international players in the hospitality industry.
